Drinking Water Source Protection - Trent Conservation Coalition Source Protection Region HOME CONTACT

Drinking water that comes from municipal water systems is tested and monitored on a regular basis to make sure it is safe to drink.  However if you live in a rural area, the water you drinking probably comes from a well.

Your well is tapped into one of Canada's greatest resources - groundwater. You use groundwater everyday for cooking, washing, and as a supply of fresh clean drinking water.

As a private water well owner, it is your job to be
well aware — to understand the basics of well maintenance and operation, and to take the necessary actions to keep your water wells in safe running order. Well Aware is a guide to caring for your wells. Learn More...

Well Aware is a project of Green Communities Canada which encourages Ontario's residential well owners to protect their wells and our common groundwater supplies.
